Laminated formwork plywood

Laminated plywood is pressed wood boards made of birch scale wood with adhesive impregnation and covered with a polymer film. Material with a long life-span manifests bending and tear strength, resistance to wear, moisture and chemicals.

Large-format water-resistant birch plywood WISA-Form Birch is a laminated special plywood for multiple uses that guarantees high-quality monolithic surfaces. WISA-Form Birch is used in vertical and horizontal formwork systems.

Special features of  WISA-Form Birch

• Increased scale wood density ensures an even durable cut;
• Usage of only Finnish and Estonian resins without additives that “save” the amount of resin ensures unrivaled rates of water resistance and strength;
• Strict compliance with class E1 of formaldehyde emission with a much stricter level than required by GOST 3916.1-96 (the emission level is lower than that of non-waterproof plywood FK).

Construction of a plywood sheet

Birch plywood is made of glued (mainly transversely) sheets of peeled birch scale wood.

Glueing

For plywood production, weather-resistant phenol-formaldehyde resin is used that meets the requirements of the European standard EN 314-2 class 3 exterior (maximal resistance at relative humidity above 20%).

Surfaces and edges of a plywood sheet

Front and back side of a plywood sheet: specific gravity of dark brown film: 120 or 220 g / m².

Sheet edges are protected with 2 layers of waterproof paint.

Sizes of sheets

Standart sizes: 1200/1220/1250 x 2400/2440/2500.

Information on other sizes is provided on request. 

Production of plywood according to the customer's sizes is possible.

Size tolerances (length/width) + 1 mm per 1 m.

Squareness tolerance + 1 m per 1 m of diagonal sheet length.

Number of forming cycles 

In practice, plywood with a film density of 120 g/m² can withstand from 20 to 80 formwork cycles. However, this amount significantly depends on various factors, namely:

• construction culture,
• requirements to the quality of concrete surfaces,
• carefullness during concrete vibration,
• delicate and cautious use of formwork elements and their warehousing,
• type and qualities of release agents,
• etc.

Segezha Group produces birch plywood at the Vyatskiy plywood plant and at the Galichskiy plywood plant, the design capacity of which is 192 thousand m³ of products per year. The plant produces dry-process fiberboard with thickness of 3.2 to 7.0 mm and capacity of 26 million conventional m², as well as RUF fuel briquettes.

The Vyatskiy plywood plant is one of the leading manufacturers of thin medium-density dry-process fiberboard of continuous production process of the TSN grade. This type of plywood belongs to the category of MDF boards (medium density fiberboard).

At the moment, the Vyatskiy plywood plant has wide production capabilities and is equipped with modern machinery. The enterprise manufactures a number of products: plywood with colored melamine, phenolic films of various application ranges, plywood with transparent melamine films, as well as develops tailored solutions based on customer drawings.

The annual estimated cutting area of ​​the Vyatskiy plywood plant is 0.59 million m³.

Laminated plywood SVEZA is a high-quality birch plywood FSF, covered with a special film. The laminated surface of the board prevents moisture penetration, has high resistance to abrasion, chemicals, fungus and mold. The plywood edges are protected with waterproof acrylic paint.

Is widely used in the construction industry: in formwork systems for monolithic construction. 

Besides a smooth film, film with a mesh surface is used for coating. Such plywood provides protection against slipping and is used for flooring in the production of vehicles and in scaffolding.

When choosing laminated formwork plywood, it is necessary to consider the following: 

• Sheet thickness. Sheets 18 to 24 mm thick are usually used for formwork.
• Sheet sizes. Standart plywood sheet sizes are 1220×2440 mm or 1500×3000.
• Coating quality. The film should be smooth and durable, without cracks and chips.

• Type I has no visible damage, swelling or delamination of the layers. The edges are smooth, processed and without burrs. Only minor darkening on separate spots of the surface is allowed.
• Type II may have coating defects in the form of overlaps. On the outer surface it is allowed to have dents, strips, the total area of which does not exceed 10% of the sheet area
• Type III may have both internal and external damage, small through damage to the film, indentation and dents on the sheet surface.
